The Malaysian Science and Technology Information Centre (MASTIC) of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI) is conducting a survey to collect data on the awareness of public on the STI in Malaysia. Public opinions and views on STI and related issues will be collected during this survey.

PE Research has been engaged to carry out the STI survey, which will begin in December 2013 and conclude in March 2014.

The study will cover both urban and rural areas of Malaysia, with the exception of inaccessible and isolated areas. Houses are selected by the Department of Statistics (DOS), Malaysia. Malaysian between ages 12 and 64 years will be interviewed for this study.

The survey questionnaire comprises of six (6) sections, namely:
i. Sources of information, levels of interest and active involvement with STI;

ii. Interest and knowledge in STI;

iii. Attitudes towards STI in general;

iv. Attitudes on issues in which STI plays an important role, such as the environment, climate change, nuclear power, etc.;

v. Effectiveness of STI promotion programmes organised by MOSTI; and

vi. Particulars of respondents
